The objective of upPP is to investigate a new biotechnological solution for the depolymerization of PP through the use of enzymes, in combination with the modification of the PP structure through formulation and compounding techniques to improve and accelerate enzymatic degradation. As a result, medium and short-chain alkanes will be obtained that can be used as high-value-added products in the chemical industry (fuels, apolar solvents, anticorrosive lubricants), or be transformed into “building blocks” of interest in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and aromas, and the manufacture of bioplastics.
