CETEC and CETECBIO participated in the BIOPOL2022 Conference

CETEC and CETECBIO were present at the 8th International Conference on Bio-based and Biodegradable Polymers (BIOPOL2022) that took place at the University of Alicante from November 14 to 16, 2022.

Sergio and Salvador represented the centre and actively participated in the meeting of experts. As part of his participation, Sergio gave the lecture Green extraction, and characterization of 3-HV enriched PHBV in which he talked about the properties of a Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) with a high hydroxyvalerate content, thanks to the results obtained in the upPE-T project.

Salvador presented two scientific posters entitled Use of packaging waste and confectionary industry waste for bioplastic production using haloarchaeas as cell factories, and Upcycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) wastes to generate biodegradable bioplastics for food and drink packaging, also within the framework of upPE-T, from the results obtained in the project.

upPE-T

upPE-T is an innovative solution to recycle PE and PET post-consumer packaging waste into a range of biodegradable and recyclable bioplastics (PHBV) for the manufacture of food and beverage packaging, developed in collaboration with more than twenty partners Europeans and coordinated by CETEC. This project is funded by the Research and Innovation Action Program (RIA) by the European Commission.
